Turning a 51000sq ft former chicken factory on a rundown industrial estate in a deprived part of Corby into a top international sporting venue took huge vision and drive, but people in Corby are thrilled with the success of the venture, and the impact it has had on local youth. Behind Adrenaline Alley is the charismatic Mandy Young, a local mum who responded to violent, antisocial behaviour from groups of local youths not by asking for ASBOS to be imposed but by trying to set up better things for them to be doing. Mobilising a team of supporters, Mandy Young set out to establish the needs of local youths and to fundraise to make it happen. Four years later, in July 2006, they opened one of the biggest parks for indoor BMX biking, skateboarding and inline skating in the UK. In just eighteen months, the Alley Indoor Urban Centre has grown into one of the biggest and most exciting centres for urban sports in Europe, and offering Europe's first and only 14ft x 76ft resi vert ramp.
